<GASP> … a Christian that lives a Goth life? Look, I am a blood bought believer that bathes in the Light of Jesus.
People are often uncomfortable with death, the dark and topics that aren’t “pretty.” Something I’ve embraced … “the Light came BECAUSE of the dark. There is beauty in pain. The lessons we have the opportunity to learn in life, are often hushed because they are topics no one wants to address. Thorns may bring blood … but they also protect the flower & enable it to grow.”
“As a Christian, you’re sinning if you have piercings.” Incorrect. Read your Bible! God pierced Israel’s nose to make her beautiful. (Ezekiel 16:12)
“Leviticus 19:28 says that you shouldn’t be getting tattoos. You’re sinning against God because the Word says your body is a temple of God.” Yes, it does. Do you know who God was talking to, or the meaning behind that scripture? God was specifically warning the Jews to not participate in the pagan practice of tattooing based on superstitions and done in very violent manners. When they mourned their dead, they would tattoo themselves, believing it would disguise them from the spirit of death. They were afraid they would be taken with their loved ones if they didn’t alter their bodies. If you are thinking of getting a tattoo for this reason, I’d encourage you to NOT. I can’t speak for anyone else, but none of my tattoos were ever conceived with this notion. I don’t believe tattoos are sinful. A note on the comment about the body being a temple … have you ever seen a Jewish temple from back in the Bible days? You may not like my answer but the walls of those temples were carved with the history of the Jews. They were painted with art of that history as well.
I absolutely love every tattoo I have. Each speak a piece of my life. My history. If you feel convicted about getting ink, then by all means, don’t get any. Please understand though, that just because you are against it for you, doesn’t mean that someone else is sinning if they do get tattooed.
