Retta Rizzo has been writing for as long as she can remember. She got her first glimpse into the profession when one of her high school teachers suggested she submit a poem she wrote, to a contest. The poem earned her a spot in a poetry anthology book.
She’s held jobs writing scripts for call centers, various articles as both a freelance writer and staff writer for magazines.
Retta has also written as a freelance ghost writer on non-fiction, autobiography and fiction projects.
Her first introduction to the fiction world, was when she was hired by ChainBooks to write starter chapters, for books that would be written by multiple authors.
Retta connected so strongly with one of the starter chapters though, that (at the suggestion of her sister) she used it to write her first fictional book.
“A Picture Perfect Life” is now the first book in a fictional series and will be released soon.
The Littlest S.I.R. is a non-fiction book that was self-published by Retta back in 2009 and written about the loss of her son, Simon Isaiah Rizzo. Currently, it is the only non-fiction work she has released, but that is subject to change.
